How We Use AI to Help You Write Better Emails
Writing emails takes time. Figuring out the right tone, structure, and phrasing for a difficult message — a complaint, a pitch, a delicate negotiation — can take longer than the task the email is about.
That's the problem AI compose solves.
What it does
Our AI compose feature takes a plain English description of what you want to say and writes the email for you.
You type: "Follow up with the client about the project delay, be understanding but firm about the new deadline"
The AI writes: a fully structured, professional email that hits those notes.
You review, adjust, and send. Total time: 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes.
What it can't do
It's a writing assistant, not a decision-maker. It doesn't know:
- The history of your relationship with the recipient
- The specific details of your situation unless you include them in the prompt
- What you actually want to say — it only knows what you tell it
The best results come from specific prompts. The more context you give, the better the output.
The technology behind it
AI compose is powered by Google Gemini, Google's large language model. Your prompt is sent to Gemini and the response is returned to your compose window.
We do not store your prompts or the generated text beyond the request-response cycle. We do not use your email content or prompts to train any model.
Tone adjustment
After generating a draft, you can ask the AI to adjust:
- More formal — useful for clients, executives, legal correspondence
- More casual — for internal team communication
- Shorter — trim the draft down
- Longer — add more context or detail
Plan availability
AI compose is available on Pro (50 requests/day) and Premium (unlimited) plans. Usage resets at midnight UTC.
